Spring Cleaning Your Car

5 Tips on Spring Cleaning Your Car!

Spring has sprung! With that, means no more snow right? Except that one time, and the other time… and well, hopefully no more snow! Just in case, check out our blog on Winter Driving tips!

I clean my car was less often than I should. When I need to transport people, I quickly shuffle things like a horrible episode of Hoarders. Well, today, let’s get that car in top shape and ready for the great weather!

Clean out the insides!

Take EVERYTHING out! When I say everything, I mean everything. Marie Kondo all the things and ask “Does this old receipt from the gas station really spark joy?” and toss it. You basically want to separate your stuff into two categories:

Trash or Inside:

  • Trash is simple. Take a bag and throw away everything that you do not want. A lot of decisions should come pretty easy. Make sure you check all the compartments, too! That means that center console that houses the most random things that you haven’t seen, well, since last year.
  • Inside should be easy too! Everything that you do not need, take it on it! Grab a bag and put the contents of any compartment and sort through them. It’s a fresh year after all, and your car should look spic and span.

Dust, dust, and dust!

This one is pretty straightforward. Dust everything! The sun will start shning through the windshield and you want to make sure that it’s not illuminating all the dust that has been collecting over the winter. So make sure you get the dash, consoles, and doors!

Vacuum every nook and cranny.

After wiping down the dash and everything the light basically touches, it’s time to vacuum the floors and seats. The winter is harsh to vehicles, so you want to make sure that everything is like new. A lot of mud and salt can build up over time over the winter!

When cleaning the outside, get those windows!

The winter is harsh on a car, and you can clearly (not so much) see it through the windows of a car. All the salt and grim kicked up from cars over the winter can really gross out your windshield and back window. It goes hand in hand with dusting your car, the sun will be shining a lot more (hopefully!) through the windows, so you want to be sure it is clear!

Finally, don’t forget the underside!

The biggest culprit in a rusting car is SALT SALT SALT! The underside of your car is disgusting from however many times they salted the road, and cleaning that is always the top priority when you know it will not snow anymore!

All these things will definitely improve the longevity of your vehicle’s life. If anything, I hope this blog does, is give you a little push of motivation you’ve been looking for!
