3 Ways to Get Ready for Autumn

The leaves are changing, the air smells different, you’re digging out your flannels and long socks. When the seasons transition, your life can experience more changes than you realize. Here is a list of three things that you can do to stay ahead of the game and prepare yourself for an easy Autumn season.

1. Make sure your gutters are clean.

The Autumn months bring many things. Pumpkins are sprouting, the wind has a chill to it, and most of all there are a ton of LEAVES! Leaves pile up very fast in the Autumn months and can cause a bit of a headache if left untended. One way leaves can give you trouble is when too many of them gather in your gutters without being cleaned out. Although the leaves falling from the trees are dead, when they pile up they can become heavy and cumbersome to deal with. If too much pressure is put on your gutters for a prolonged period of time, they can become damaged or even break. Before autumn sets in and you see those leaves begin to fly, take the time to clean your gutters. Also, always be sure to practice the necessary caution when using a ladder to reach them.

2. Don’t just clean in the Spring.

Cleaning your house is one thing that gives you a sense of peace. It may be the one thing you do that maintains a bit of order in your living environment. Spring cleaning is a very typical concept and is important, but what about Autumn cleaning? When the seasons change, it is easy to let our approach to things change as well. Maintaining a clean house creates consistency in your environment from one season to the next and helps you be ready for whatever the weather brings. From the leaves falling to the snow falling, giving your house the right amount of love in Autumn can make the rest of your year much easier to manage.

3. Rest.

Summer was busy! The beginning of Autumn has been busy as well. You’ve cleaned the gutters surrounding your roof and you’ve deep cleaned your house beyond any point you thought you could. Now it is time to do something that comes easily – rest! This is a time to recharge your batteries and get back in touch with yourself. Maybe you like making your favorite latte and relaxing on your deck or maybe you enjoy the peace of meditating while your Autumn candles burn and fill your house with a calming aroma. Whatever makes you take a step back, reflect, and find peace, Autumn is the time to do a lot more of just that.
